Brief Explanation

What And Where Did We Paint?

We just finished up helped out Salt Lake City's one-and-only Costco Auto Service department with a new interior paint job in their garage.

The store had been thinking of giving this specific area a face-lift for some time, as evidently seen in some of the Before photos.

Once they finally decided that it was time to turn the quality of their auto service area up a notch, they knew to give us a call.

We provided a cashmere and block fill for most of the cinder block walls surrounding the inside of their work area.

This gave the area much more of a smoother look and finish and made it feel more like a sleek, modern think-tank space rather than an ordinary, everyday auto service shop.

How Did We Work Around Their Work?

By far the trickiest aspect of this venture was conducting the painting process around the mechanics and crew as they went about their day.

Thankfully, this isn't the first time we've worked under such semi-crowded conditions, so we knew exactly how to operate in a manner that was not only efficient but also respectful to the other workers around us.

We blocked off only the specific areas that we were working on clearly and concisely and made sure to keep all of our materials away from any nearby equipment or gear.

Painting can be a pretty messy business, but once the proper precautions and safety tapes are in place, it can become a fairly straightforward process to professionals such as ourselves.

As you can clearly see from some of our After pictures, the results turned out amazing, and we're thoroughly looking forward to working on our next commercial interior painting project.

1. What Was Involved In The Cinder Block Filling Process?


We started off by giving the wall a good, vigorous brushing.

This initial step helps to ensure that the wall is dry and free of any lingering dust or foreign particles, which tend to be quite abundant, especially in an auto service workshop environment.

We then went forward with painting the surface of the cinder block with the block filler paint.

This particular style of paint is thicker than most and it is often recommended to not be thinned when compared to regular paints.

Block filler does a great job at penetrating deep into all the small cracks, holes, and nitches that are in cinder block and gives it a smooth, slick finish that's truly eye-catching once properly dried.

Changing the color of your interior can sometimes be a leap of faith.

Some just naturally love change and dynamic new environments.
